The pleasure of sex does not come alone, you may have to pay its price or bear its baggage in the form of pregnancy. Those who are ready to expand their family don’t worry much about pregnancy but what about those who want to avoid it. Although there is always a possibility of getting pregnant after sex, its probability remains low during the safe days of a woman after periods. So, if you want to avoid an unwanted pregnancy, pay attention to the calculation of safe days.

Avoid pregnancy during safe periods:

Women who live an active sexual life are constantly under the fear of getting pregnant. However, those who precisely calculate safe periods can ease this tension. With the right knowledge and a bit use of contraception, women can enjoy their sex life without worrying much about the pregnancy. In a way, safe periods are a phase when they are less likely to get pregnant and this phase comes every month.

Keep a tab on menstrual cycles:

Women should know about their menstrual cycles. Some following days of the menstrual cycle are infertile, also known as pre-ovulatory infertility, whereas some days just before the next menstruation are also infertile known as post-ovulatory infertility.

Safe periods are the safe days that come from day 1 to 7 and days 21 to rest of the menstruation. Women can properly understand the safe period calculation method along with coitus interruption for the family planning. Remember that this period is not the same for all women and it depends on the length of the menstrual cycle.

Understand pre-ovulatory phase:

Pre-ovulatory or follicular phase is between the days 3 and 14 after menstruation. In this period, a woman’s body releases hormones to stimulate the eggs in the ovaries. These hormones will further thicken the uterus lining, getting ready for fertility. Therefore, these are comparatively safe days for a woman after periods and they can enjoy sex during this period.

Ovulation phase:

This is the most conducive period to get pregnant. It often occurs in the middle of a woman’s menstrual cycle when a mature ovarian follicle is open to release an egg needed for getting pregnant. Since this period has a great chance to get pregnant, women should avoid unsafe sex and use some contraceptives to avoid the unwanted pregnancy.

Post-ovulatory phase:

Safe periods come again with the start of post-ovulatory or luteal phase. This phase begins after ovulation and ends with the next menstrual cycle. The luteal phase lasts for 14 days on an average. The length of this phase varies from woman to woman depending on the length of their menstrual cycles.

High possibility of getting pregnant:

The safe days probably depends on the lifespan and activity of both egg and sperm. In an average, out of 28-day of the menstrual cycle, the 14th day is the most eventful day when ovulation occurs. The chances are it can occur anytime between the 12th and 19th day after a menstruation cycle.

It is also important to know that a sperm can remain alive for 3 to 5 days of intercourse. So, if you have had unprotected sex five days before and after the ovulation, the probability of getting pregnant is very high. So precisely calculate the safe days of a woman after periods and enjoy your sex life with a precaution.
