Hair loss is a subject associated with various misunderstandings and myths that may scare you. It was believed that oiling will help grows, a large number of the population would help hair grow and many men and women would apply on their scalps in hopes that it would make their hair grow longer and thicker. Now all these rituals may seem waste now, there are still plenty of myths that a wide variety of modern humans follow in order to to get the perfect dark black strands. Let have a look at some of the widely believed myths that many of you still believe:

  • Too much sun exposure cause hair loss- It is absolutely true that overexposure to sun’s ultraviolet rays can be harmful to the skin which triggers aging and may even lead to skin cancer, but there is not much truth about it causing hair loss. The ultraviolet rays make the hair brittle by weakening the hair’s fiber, which is a different issue from hair loss or baldness.
  • Washing hair excessively with shampoo- many people, especially women blame their shampoo when they lose strands of hair in the bathroom. Many even think their hair will get prettier, thicker, and healthier by skipping cleanser.People have a tendency to notice falling of hair most during the shower time in the bathtub, sink, or in the bucket. Truth is that shampooing less can really be terrible for your hair. Hereditary baldness is not caused by hair falling out, but by normal hair being replaced by finer and thinner hair. Shampooing hair frequently has got nothing to do with this cycle, falling of hair. Furthermore, some people who don’t shampoo their hair on a regular basis feel they lose more hair when they use shampoo, but this happens because of build up in the hair, which spurts collective hair loss.
  • Blow drying your hair causes baldness- Blow drying your hair might make your hair weak or brittle, but it won’t cause baldness. You only need to be careful while using the hot tool if you are concerned about split ends, but that’s a different issue.
  • Shaving your head solve scalp issues- When people have scalp infections like dandruff or lice,they shave theirs hairs have in the hope that their scalp issue will resolve. Instead, in such cases, the infection continues to affect the scalp, regardless of the length of the hair.  Break this myth and opt a hair care treatment that best suits your condition and helps you get rid of lice and dandruff.
  • Wearing a hat causes hair to fall off- This is one of the most common myths about hair loss. The most genuine cause of losing hair is an adjustment of hair follicles and hormones, as well as other change in the body. Considering these points, we cannot say that wearing a hat can cause hair loss. Moreover, there is no specific evidence that confirms that wearing a hat is the main cause of hair loss. You probably have heard from many people that wearing a hat can cut off blood circulation to the hair follicles, they are just spreading the myth all around. Only wearing a too tight hat for all day will make you lose some hairs but this isn’t likely to happen.
  • Parents to blame- Another popular hair loss myth are hair loss is inherited from your maternal side. This is absolutely not true because you will have to look at your paternal side too to see the future of your hair. This means hair loss doesn’t come from one side of your family, but a combination of both.
